Insidious

Insidious (2011) PG-13

Directed by James Wan

Starring:  Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Andrew Astor, and Heather Tocquigny

Here We Go:  Holy horror movie!  After numerous misses on Netflix I was bound to eventually come across a movie that was actually scary.  Somehow Insidious was totally off my radar and I had never heard of it until recently.  This movie was shockingly scary.  There are no expensive special effects or gory scenes, and that was wonderfully refreshing.  We are a desensitized generation and blood, gore and CGI don't necessarily translate into "scary."  Miraculously, the Insidious team figured that out.  They mastered the idea of scaring you with the unknown and what could be there instead of using expensive CGI to show you what is there.  Whether it's from the creepy kids, the hauntings, or every single time something shocking happens to make you jump out of your seat, you'll be left wanting to turn all the lights on and sleep with every limb under the covers.

Bottom Line:  A must see (with the lights on).
